Morton Group marked the start of the new decade by delivering a generous donation to a local homelessness charity.

Approximately £1,000 worth of food, toiletries, clothes and supplies were gathered by Morton Group and delivered to The People’s Kitchen in Newcastle, with kind donations gathered from staff, partners and suppliers, including J T Dove, Hunter Johnstone, Lord Tool Hire and Speedyhire.

The People’s Kitchen has been supporting homeless and disadvantaged people in Newcastle since 1985, relying solely on volunteers and donations to provide hot meals, clean clothes and help to move towards independent living.

The idea for the collection was initially raised by Group CEO Gary Morton, who then matched the donations gathered with a further £1,000 of supplies.

Gary said: “It’s so important for us to do our bit to help those people living without a home, sleeping rough and struggling to get by.

“Thanks to the volunteers at The People’s Kitchen, vulnerable people have somewhere to turn to for a meal, warm clothes and even just a friendly face to chat with.

“It’s a genuine pleasure to make this delivery and support the inspirational work the charity does here in Newcastle.”

Morton Group is committed to supporting a wide range of charities and worthy causes, varying from national mental health charities to small local communities.
